The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, Government of India, has called for a nationwide movement to combat climate change and protect the environment. Emphasizing collective action, BEE urged governments, industries, and individuals to address the alarming rise in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, deforestation, and pollution.
Experts stressed the need to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C, in line with the Paris Agreement. Since the energy sector accounts for nearly 75% of all GHG emissions, transitioning to clean energy, enhancing energy efficiency, effective water management, and afforestation are critical strategies to mitigate climate impacts.
Under these circumstances and on the occasion of National Energy Conservation week 14th to 20th December 2024, Media Adviser wing of Southern States / Bureau of Energy Efficiency /BEE /Ministry of Power, Government of India along with V Aneela, MD TGREDCO met Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Principal Secretary, Energy and Finance, Govt of Telangana in Hyderabad.
During the discussion while thanking the support of BEE and EESL a JV of Central PSU’s under Ministry of Power for promotion of Energy Efficiency and helps in providing cost effective Power’ in the State ,the Principal Secretary highlighted the State’s Commitments on implementation of energy efficiency and Green Energy for Economic development and environmental protection..
Under the able guidance of the Chief Minister Sri. A. Revanth Reddy & Continuous monitoring of Deputy Chief Minister Sri. Bhatti Vikramarka the Energy Department has prioritized for 24/7 Power Supply with highest quality to the Consumers and putting Special focus on Industrial Power Supply at the Global Standards for employment generation, Economic development and attracting sizableinvestments, he said
That’s why,with the support of the Ministry of Power and MNRE and as per the directions of State government, the energy department has committed to reach the targets of setting up of 20GW Renewable Power by 2030and 40 GW by 2035.
To promote the noble cause and to make the School Children’s to habituate Energy Conservation with the financial support of BEE the department of Energy, Government of Telangana has established more than 165 energy clubs.We are equally focusing on sustainability of Energy Efficiency and Conservation among Women Community through Self Helf Groups and TG REDCO.
The Deputy Chief Minister’s participation in releasing of Energy Conservation Calendar 2025 underscores the priority of the State towards Energy Efficiency which contributes more than 40 percent in addressing Climate Change the principal Secretary said.
The officers of TG REDCO informed that various activities have been taken up with the support of BEE for promoting Energy Efficiency, few of main initiatives which are given below.
1/ Energy Efficiency Financial Committee.
Energy Efficiency Financing Platform (EEFP) is one of the initiatives under National Mission for Enhanced Energy Efficiency (NMEEE) to provide a platform to interact with Financial Institutions (FIs) and project developers (Industry, ESCOs, OEMs etc.,) for implementation of energy efficiency projects., a “Committee of Financial institutions for Energy Efficiency Financing”has been constituted with 08 leading financial institutions (Banks & NBFCs) within the state.
TGREDCO has recently conducted 2nos of Investment Bazaar Events in the state.
2/ MEDIA CAMPAIGN ON PROMOTION OF EE&EC IN THE TELANGANA STATE
Broadcasted Jingle on Energy Conservation in All India Radio channel to create awareness among general public.
Telecasted advertisement on Electric Vehicle, BEE star labelled appliances in various television channels to create awareness among general public.
Awareness Campaign towards Energy Conservation & Energy Efficiency through advertising “Energy Saving Tips/ Energy Conservation Measures at interior panels of Hyderabad Metro Trains for Awareness Campaign”.
