The Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) launched the Nationwide Digital Life Certificate (DLC) Campaign 3.0 from 1st to 30th November 2024. The campaign spans 800 cities/districts across India, embodying a “Whole of Government” approach by bringing multiple stakeholders together.
To enhance the “Ease of Living” for Central Government pensioners, DLC submission using Face Authentication was introduced in 2021. This technology allows pensioners to submit life certificates using any smartphone, reducing the need for external biometric devices and making the process more accessible and affordable.
This year’s campaign, organized in collaboration with Pension Disbursing Banks, India Post Payments Bank, Pensioners’ Associations, UIDAI, MeitY, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Railways and DoT, aims to ensure that pensioners, especially super seniors and incapacitated pensioners can easily submit their life certificates. Camps have been set up nationwide, and staff in branches.
On 11th November 2024, Mrs. Manju Gupta, Assistant Director (OL) from the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare visited the camps held in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh by Union Bank of India, she visited Seethammadhara Branch (Main) where Mr Narasimha Kumar R, Regional Head, Union Bank of India Visakhapatnam shared the details of Campaign held in various other branches viz Gajuwaka Branch, Visakhapatnam Main Branch, St Ann’s Branch and Madhurawada Branch. He said special consultancy Desk and Medical Checkup Desks were setup for the pensioners. He further informed that special provisions including home visits for bed-ridden pensioners were made.
In the mega DLC 3.0 camp at Visakhapatnam Port Authority, 112 Digital life Certificates were generated on 11th Nov and so far total 7000+ DLCs had been generated from Visakhapatnam Port Authority itself. Mr D. Ramana Murthy, FA & CAO, Visakhapatnam Port Authority, Ministry of Shipping informed that 84% Life Certificates were generated digitally. He further added that the Postmen of IPPB are equipped with smartphones to provide doorstep DLC Services to pensioners. Mrs Manju Gupta alongwith Sr Manager Ms Sridevi and Postman Mr Sakkera Rajesh, IPPB team of IPPB Branch Office MVP Colony visited various camps held by IPPB in Visakhapatnam to assist pensioners to submit their DLC. UIDAI official Mr Girdhar Gattu was present to solve technical problems being faced during generation of DLC. Wide publicity was given to these camps through various newspapers viz The Pioneer, The Hans India, Eenadu etc. Doordarshan TV reporter Mr Anand covered the Mega Camp held in UBI main branch.
The campaign was promoted extensively through social media and on-site banners.
