Vijayawada, Neti Patrika Prajavartha :
Union Ministry of Power led Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), which has been driving India’s ambitious mission to reduce energy intensity of the nation’s economy by taking up massive energy efficiency measures will be contemplating to formulate a national strategy and action plan to create massive awareness about the significance of energy efficiency measures among the public through all State Designated Agencies (SDAs) including Andhra Pradesh.
As part of this major measure and in order to drive massive awareness, BEE is keen to involve general public, various organizations and associations of farmers and industry etc. in the moment of utilizing energy efficiently which is necessary to protect the interests of the future generations.
The requirement for energy is growing continuously with the growth in the population in the country. Energy conservation is an effort to reduce the consumption of energy and to use at least energy so that energy sources can be saved for future generations.
The BEE, Ministry of Power, GoI is observing National Energy Conservation Week from 14th December to 20th December-2021.During a webinar conducted with all SDAs, the Director General of BEE, Abhay Bakre, who has addressed all the SDAs, urged to formulate separate action plans keeping the local conditions in mind to promote energy conservation and energy efficiency in their respective States. The DG BEE stressed on the need for stricter and faster implementation of energy efficiency and energy conservation programs in all the sectors to reduce carbon emissions and reach the climate change and sustainability goals of the country. With the rapid progress in industrialization and changes in the lifestyle of citizens, the need for energy is growing at a fast pace. But the sources of energy are limited and thus require to be consumed in a judicious manner, the DG said.
Reducing the wastage of energy is very crucial and people need to be made aware of the best practices regarding it. National Energy Conservation Day, marked on December 14 every year, is an occasion to remind ourselves of our duty towards our ecological system by making an effort to save energy. Using energy in efficient manner is necessary to save it for future needs and development of the country. The pace with the non-replenishable sources are depleting is a major cause of concern around the world.
In view of this, the Government of India has taken several crucial steps for enhancing energy conservation and efficiency in the country on the occasion of 75 years of independence of India with a significance to Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The steps taken by BEE to save energy in various key sectors like industry alone has yielded excellent results and attracted global attention. The industrial sector saved 21.95 Million ton of oil equivalent worth of around Rs.40,945 Crs by implementing Perform Achieve Trade(PAT) scheme(cycle-1 & 2). Energy conservation building code (ECBC) is also one of the best programs to promote energy efficiency at ground level.
Energy conservation should be rooted in the behavior of every human being to get more effect towards the plan of energy conservation. There is a need to involve every citizen of India in the moment of energy conservation and efficiency and let them aware that it is the responsibility of everyone in the country
