In a landmark move, the Andhra Pradesh government has teamed up with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) under the Ministry of Power, Government of India to drive the Mission LiFE initiative, setting a new standard in sustainable living and energy efficiency across the State. This ambitious mission is poised to enhance the economy, ensure energy security, and uplift the quality of life for the people, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a trailblazer in the nation.
Chief Secretary Neerab Kumar Prasad, while releasing a BEE’s special report on Mission LiFE, at AP Secretariat, facilitated by Media Adviser wing of Southern States/ UTs A Chandra Sekhara Reddy andsupported by Spl. CS Energy K Vijayanand, ceoapsecm Kumar reddy,reiterated that the State government’s unwavering commitment to environmental protection, green energy, and a green economy. “Andhra Pradesh is ready to take up the mantle of environmental stewardship. We are keen to continuously support and collaborate with BEE and Union Ministry of Power to push forward this crucial mission for the betterment of the society and future generations”
This collaboration between the Andhra Pradesh government and BEE marks a significant step towards a greener, healthier, and more sustainable State, setting an example for the rest of the country to follow, Chief Secretary said.
Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Sri Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Andhra Pradesh has made significant strides in green energy. Since 2014, the Chief Minister has pioneered energy efficiency programs like LED streetlighting, the UJALA scheme, and energy-efficient agricultural pump sets, E-mobility earning the State numerous National accolades. Andhra Pradesh was the first State in the countrythat had launched several energy efficiency programmers&also the Sate achieved World Bank rankings in Energy Efficiency readiness and attracted the Global attention, the Chief Secretary highlighted. “Mission LiFE will further propel these efforts, promoting sustainable practices and reinforcing our leadership in energy conservation.”
The State government’s ambitious goal is to make Andhra Pradesh No. 1 in providing 24×7 quality power supply with global standards, ensuring energy security that fuels economic growth and enhances living standards. The Chief Minister’s active participation in the BEE’s Mission LiFE poster release program a few days ago underscores the high priority the State places on energy efficiency and environmental sustainability, the CS said. Spl. CS Energy deptKVijayanand emphasized the importance of organizing regional programs on Mission LiFE and energy efficiency in collaboration with BEE and other stakeholders, aiming to reach every corner of the state with the guiding principle: Nature protects those who protect it.
Mission LiFE is expected to significantly uplift living standards by improving health, economic, and environmental conditions. “Our ultimate goal is to position Andhra Pradesh as the leading state in implementing Mission LiFE,” Spl. CS asserted.This mission also promises to boost the state economy by creating jobs in sectors like renewable energy, waste management, energy efficiency, and eco-tourism.
BEE Media Advisor along with ceoapsecm explained that, by promoting sustainable practices, the mission will increase demand for eco-friendly products and services, supporting small businesses and local markets. Additionally, it encourages innovation in green technologies, providing opportunities for local entrepreneurs and startups.Sustainable practices under Mission LiFE aim to reduce pollution, improve public health, and lower healthcare costs. Eco-conscious tourism will generate revenue for local communities while preserving natural resources. The mission outlines 75 actionable steps, including using LED bulbs, public transport, bicycles, CNG/EV vehicles, carpooling, and solar energy solutions. By adopting these practices, Andhra Pradesh can achieve a more sustainable and prosperous future.
