AP Power utilities to lay special focus on consumer welfare

-State government is striving for upliftment of the weaker sections
-Free power is being provided to various weaker sections

The State government has attached utmost priority for effective implementation of welfare schemes in AP Power sector particularly for the weaker sections which can hugely benefit more than 20 lakhs families in the State through schemes like free electricity etc.
During a function at Vidyut Soudha on the occasion of the birth anniversary of former Deputy Prime Minister Babu Jagjivan Ram, the Director Grid of APTRANSCO, AVK Bhaskar who read out the special message of the secretary energy B Sreedhar, said Babu Jagjivan ram has not only fought for the freedom movement but also worked tirelessly for the development of the country. He has worked hard for the development of the backward and downtrodden sections of the society in particular. The secretary said the state government is striving for upliftment of the weaker sections. As part of this, several welfare schemes are being implemented in the power sector .Besides providing free electricity to over 18 lakh agricultural connections in the state, free electricity is also being provided to various weaker sections.
The government is providing free power up to 200 units per month to Scheduled Caste (SC) consumers and Schedule Tribe (ST) Consumers. The government is providing subsidy of around Rs. 713 Crs subsidy to aquaculture farmers. Free power is also extended to beneficiaries of rural horticulture and saloons. The weaker sections such as Handloom Weavers, Professional Gold smith who belongs to BPL category, MBC communities in BPL Category are given free power up to 100 units per month.

The Chief Engineer, Power systems/APTRANSCO, P Surya chandram, FA&CCA/APTRANSCO, P Mural Krishna, Deputy Secretary/APTRANSCO, John , Executive Engineer(400KV), Jaykar Roy, Deputy Executive Engineer/Civil, K Srinivas and other senior officers of APTRANSCO and APGENCO have participated in the program.
