Secunderabad, Neti Patrika Prajavartha :
In view of the monsoon season and heavy rainfalls, Shri Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager, South Central Railway, conducted a high-level review meeting today i.e., 16th August, 2025 at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad. The session focused on evaluating the zone’s readiness to tackle challenges posed by heavy rains and ensuring uninterrupted, safe train operations. The meeting was attended by Shri Satya Prakash, Additional General Manager, SCR, along with Principal Heads of Departments. Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs), Additional Divisional Railway Managers (ADRMs), and their teams from all six divisions—Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur, Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Nanded joined via video conference.
Prior to the review, the General Manager inspected the Disaster Management Room, emphasizing the importance of 24×7 operational readiness. He monitored live feeds from vulnerable locations and directed officials to maintain close coordination with local and state government authorities for real-time ground-level updates.
The review placed strong emphasis on close watch of vulnerable infrastructure such as bridges, tunnels, and Road under Bridges (RUBs) and other areas prone to waterlogging.

Key directives included:
• Manning of Control and Disaster Management Centres by officers around the clock.
• Emergency Stockpiles: Ensure availability of sand, ballast, cement, boulders, and pipes for quick response.
• Continuous Monitoring: Conduct regular inspections and maintain round-the-clock surveillance at critical locations.
• Swift Repairs: Complete pending repair works immediately or defer them if not emergent and necessary immediately.
• Drainage & Pumping: Verify functionality of drainage systems in vulnerable locations, station yards etc.,
To ensure real-time situational awareness, the GM advised officials to footplate during heavy rains, enabling direct observation and immediate action. He also instructed the establishment of help desks at major stations to provide accurate information to passengers during disruptions.
Recognizing the risk posed by overgrown vegetation, the GM directed teams to cut, trim, or notch trees near tracks and Overhead Equipment (OHE) to prevent operational hazards. He emphasized that field supervisors must remain vigilant, ensuring that any issue is addressed and resolved without delay.
Shri Sanjay Kumar Srivastava reiterated SCR’s commitment to safety and operational excellence, stating: “Monsoon preparedness is not just a seasonal protocol—it’s a reflection of our proactive approach to passenger safety and infrastructure resilience. Every supervisor, every team member must act with urgency and precision.”
