Hyderabad, Neti Patrika Prajavartha :
Building on the success of the Telangana Clean and Green Energy Policy 2025, the state government has taken a major step towards energy efficiency by collaborating with Prominent National institutions like the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) etc.
This collaboration will drive energy efficiency (EE) programs including Mission LIFFE, setting new benchmarks in sustainability. Mission LIFFE including Renewable Energy & EE and water Management focuses on boosting economic growth, ensuring energy security, and improving citizens’ quality of life, positioning Telangana as a Number one State in energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. As part of this initiative, the state recently supported MOU to establish a world-class Centre of Excellence in Energy Transition (CoEET) in Hyderabad. Led by BEE in partnership with TERI, this landmark initiative aims to combat climate change while enhancing energy efficiency and economic development.
Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, while receiving copy of a special report on Mission LIFE from A. Chandra Sekhara Reddy, Media Adviser (Southern States/UTs) BEE MOP & supported by V. Aneela, MD & VC of TGREDCO, the state-designated agency for energy efficiency and renewable energy—stressed the urgent need to raise awareness about energy and water conservation. He emphasized that public participation is extremely crucial for economic growth and protecting the planet for future generations.
“The Telangana government is fully committed to environmental protection, green energy, and a sustainable economy. In the public interest, we are ready to collaborate with national organizations like BEE, EESL, the Ministry of Power, and the Ministry of Environment to enhance energy efficiency— a key contributor to combating climate change. With energy efficiency and renewable energy playing a crucial role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, initiatives like Mission LIFFE are essential for a cleaner, greener future,” said the deputy Chief minister.
With substantial industrial growth and increasing economic activity, Telangana’s peak power demand is expected to double from 15,623 MW in FY 2024 to 31,809 MW by FY 2035 (Source: CEA). The state’s energy requirement is projected to rise from 85,644 MU in FY 2024 to 1, 50,040 MU by FY 2035.
To meet this growing demand, the Telangana government has launched the Telangana Clean and Green Energy Policy 2025, with a vision to increase the state’s renewable energy capacity by 20,000 MW by 2030 and 40,000 MW by 2035. The policy will be in effect for 10 years and, alongside energy efficiency programs, specifically aims to ensure 24/7 high-quality power supply with international standards, achieving 100% energy security for consumers. Further strengthening its commitment to sustainability, the Telangana government, through TGREDCO, is also focusing on expanding its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, targeting an additional 12,000 EV charging stations by 2035. He noted that Energy Efficiency efforts are expected to save over 20 to 25 percent of energy consumption while ensuring high-quality power for all citizens. Keeping this in view he has appealed to all categories of consumers of more than 1.89 Crore to support the Government in making the energy conservation movement a grand success and become a role model in the country. He has appreciated the efforts of Principal Secretary Energy department Sandeep Kumar Sultania and his team to fully focus on promotion of renewal energy and energy efficiency on sustainable basis to ensure benefit to the Consumers.
Media Adviser, who is also the Nodal officer on behalf of BEE, Ministry of Power for Mission Life informed that Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, during his address at COP26 in Glasgow, emphasized that Mission LiFE democratizes the fight against climate change, allowing everyone to contribute within their capacities. Between 2022 and 2028, Mission LiFE aims to mobilize one billion individuals globally, with a significant focus on India. By 2028, the mission seeks for at least 80% of all villages and urban areas in India to adopt environmentally friendly practices.
Mission LiFE has outlined 75 individual actions that can be easily adopted by individuals, communities, and institutions. These actions, across seven thematic areas, include using LED bulbs, public transport, bicycles for short commutes, CNG/EV vehicles, carpooling, solar energy solutions, and more. By embracing these practices, the state governments can build a more sustainable and prosperous future.
VC & MD TGREDCO – V.Aneela explained about theme impact of State and BEE programs like Energy Conservation Building Code,Perform Achieve and Trade and Demand side Management etc.
