Telangana askes to take active part in Cooling Solutions Survey

-Centre Launches National Survey to Shape Energy-Efficient Cooling Solutions.
-National Survey aims at shaping Energy-Efficient Cooling Solutions& Reducing Carbon Emissions.

Hyderabad, Neti Patrika Prajavartha :
In its endeavor to Accelerate Energy-Efficient in a Big Way and to provide the Fruits to the Stake Holders/ Consumers Telangana State has been asked by Bureau of Energy Efficiency GOI to play a pivotal role in the National Survey launched by the Union Govt Which aims toShape Energy-Efficient Cooling Solutions. This National wide major Initiatives Seeks to Engage the Consumers/ Stake Holders in a big way in identifying Energy-Efficient Cooling Solutions that reduce Electricity Consumers, Lower Green House Gas Emissions& also Mitigate the Effects of Climate Change.
In Order to achieving sustainable development, the Union Government has launched the “Shaping the Future of Energy-Efficient Cooling” survey. This nationwide initiative aims to engage citizens in identifying energy-efficient cooling solutions that reduce electricity consumption, lower carbon emissions, and mitigate climate change effects.
The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, is leading the initiative to gather vital insights and data to shape policies and technological advancements in the cooling sector. To ensure the success of this mission, BEE has directed State Designated Agencies (SDAs) across India to actively promote and facilitate participation in the survey.

A Call for Nationwide Participation
Milind Deore, Secretary, BEE, in a letter to SDAs, emphasized that this initiative aligns with the vision of Shri Manohar Lal Khattar, Hon’ble Union Minister for Power, Housing & Urban Development, reinforcing the government’s commitment to promoting sustainable cooling practices, enhancing energy efficiency, and combating climate change. By involving citizens, industries, and stakeholders, the survey will help shape policies and innovations in the cooling technology sector.
The survey is now live and accessible at https://www.mygov.in/mygov-survey/shape-future-energy-efficient-cooling/, and will remain open until March 25, 2025. It takes only a few minutes to complete and offers citizens a unique opportunity to contribute to India’s sustainable cooling future.

The Need for Energy-Efficient Cooling in India
With India’s cooling demand expected to grow by eight times by 2050, the government is focused on fostering energy-efficient cooling technologies. Studies indicate that air conditioning alone accounts for nearly 10% of India’s total electricity consumption, with inefficient appliances significantly contributing to power grid stress and carbon emissions.
According to BEE’s Standards & Labeling (S&L) program, replacing outdated air conditioners with 5-star-rated models can improve efficiency by up to 60%, reducing overall power consumption and household electricity bills. Further, adopting sustainable cooling solutions can cut India’s annual electricity consumption by over 10 billion kWh, reducing CO₂ emissions by 7.66 million tonnes—a significant step toward meeting India’s Net-Zero commitments under the Paris Agreement.

Key Survey Focus Areas
The survey seeks inputs on optimizing AC temperature settings, transitioning to BEE 5-star-rated models, integrating renewable energy, overcoming cost and accessibility barriers, and exploring market incentives like buyback schemes and financing options. It also examines the role of institutions in leading energy-efficient cooling adoption.
These insights will shape policies, raise awareness, and drive a nationwide shift toward greener cooling solutions that align with India’s sustainability goals.

Maximizing Outreach for Greater Impact
To ensure widespread participation, BEE urges all SDAs including TELANGANA STATE RENEWABLE ENERGY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION LIMITED (TSREDCO) to:
1. Promote the survey in schools with Energy Clubs, building owners, industrial consumers, and DISCOM consumers 2. Engage government departments, designated consumers (DCs), industrial associations, and key stakeholders 3. Disseminate the survey link through social media platforms, WhatsApp groups, and community outreach programs.

A Step towards India’s Carbon Reduction Goals
India is committed to reducing its carbon intensity by 45% by 2030 as part of its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement. The cooling sector plays a pivotal role in achieving this goal. By promoting high-efficiency cooling appliances and sustainable cooling practices, India can significantly cut its energy demand while ensuring environmental sustainability.
This initiative is a testament to the government’s commitment to fostering innovation and energy efficiency. It marks a crucial step toward realizing the goals set under the India Cooling Action Plan (ICAP) and Mission LiFE, aimed at accelerating the transition toward sustainable and energy-efficient lifestyles. The Bureau of Energy Efficiency invites all citizens to take part in this survey and contribute toward shaping the future of energy-efficient cooling in India.
Since Telangana having huge potentiality in Energy Efficiency the Said National Survey will have major impact in supporting the consumers in providing high quality of services through BEE Star Rated Energy Efficiency Appliances particularly in Domestic and Building Sector.
