‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’: Celebrating India’s Soil and Valour

Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the campaign’s culminating event of ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign by pouring soil into the ‘Amrit Kalash’, at Kartavya Path, New Delhi and addressed a large gathering of Amrit Kalash Yatris from across the country. The closing ceremony of the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign’s ‘Amrit Kalash Yatra’ on the occasion of National Unity Day also served as the closing ceremony for ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
“Meri Maati Mera Desh” envisions a unified celebration of India’s soil and valour, commemorating the nation’s journey of freedom and progress. By connecting with the land and honouring our heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the country. Thecampaign commenced on August 9, 2023, as a part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ had instilled a sense of national pride and inspired our future generations to protect India’s cherished heritage.
Comprising many activities and ceremonies conducted across the country at Panchayat/Village, Block, Urban Local Body, State and National levels, the campaign witnessed around 1,100 volunteers from Andhra Pradesh boarding a train from Vijayawada on Saturday (28th October), carrying 824 urns from 26 districts, to partake in the Meri Maati Mera Desh campaign in New Delhi. School children organised a rally holding a 1.5 km long tri-colour and formed a human chain at the railway station on the occasion. The Vijayawada Division of South Central Railway arranged the Amrit Kalash Yatra special. The 824 urns contained sacred soil, rice and saplings collected from 26 districts of Andhra Pradesh.
Amrit Kalash Yatra had been one of the key components of the campaign which involved collection of soil and rice grains from over 6 lakh villages in rural areas and from wards in urban areas. The soil was combined in a giant ‘Amrit Kalash’ in the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ which will be used in the construction of the Amrit Vatika and Amrit Mahotsav Memorial.
The Amrit Kalash Yatra special train, marked the final leg journey of Amrit Kalash from Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh to the national capital Delhi also marked the culmination of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav campaign, commemorating 75 years of Indian Independence launched in March 2021.
