Preparedness for Aircraft Operations During Fog Conditions – Dry Run at Rajahmundry Airport

In view of the possibility of flight delays or disruptions due to fog during the winter season, a Mock Dry Run was conducted on Saturday at Rajahmundry Airport under the aegis of the Airports Authority of India (AAI), informed Airport Director Shri N.K. Sreekanth. The dry run witnessed participation from all key departments of Rajahmundry Airport including ATC, CNS, Operations, Engineering and ARFF, along with stakeholders such as the India Meteorological Department, IndiGo Airlines, Alliance Air, APSPF, Ground Handling Agencies (GHA) and Heligo Charters, he said. During the review meeting held on the occasion, detailed discussions were carried out on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to be followed during fog conditions, the roles and responsibilities of each department and stakeholder, effective coordination mechanisms, and measures to enhance passenger convenience while minimizing inconvenience, he added. Airport Director Shri N.K. Sreekanth stated that the dry run would be highly beneficial in ensuring safe, efficient and smooth handling of flight operations, even under adverse weather conditions in the future. He further emphasized that the Airports Authority of India remains committed to providing safe, efficient and high-quality airport services to passengers.
