Chandra Sekhara Reddy, the Senior Advisor for Business Development and Government Affairs at Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL-MOP-GOI), has assumed the pivotal role of Southern Media Advisor for the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE-GOI) under the Union Ministry of Power.
As part of his new assignment he shall promote efficient use of energy & its conservation, clean energy transition & Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE) Mission at State/UT Level, the Media Advisor should provide guidance and support as well as share Knowledge and expertise with respective regional State Designated Agencies (SDAs) of Southern states such as Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Union Territories – towards concrete and sustainable energy efficiency campaign goals. Aligned with BEE directives, Reddy actively champions various initiatives related to energy conservation and efficiency through effective communication strategies. He also echoed the BEE’s special emphasis on the nationwide expansion of Mission LiFE, emphasizing its role in inspiring individuals to contribute to the Nation’s Climate Goals for a sustainable future.
Mission LiFE, integral to India’s Nationally Determined Contributions, sets an ambitious target to mobilize at least one billion Indians and global citizens by 2028 towards a lifestyle in harmony with nature. BEE underscores the crucial role of SDAs in promoting LiFE messages through dynamic strategies, leveraging social media, environmental events, and the formation of local LiFE groups.
BEE’s focus extends to major cities in Southern India, including Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Tirupati, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, and Union territories, as it envisions a comprehensive strategy encompassing Lifestyle, Energy Conservation (EC), and Energy Efficiency (EE) messages.
The Bureau suggests SDAs to actively engage with BEE content on various social media platforms, adapting it to regional languages for wider dissemination. The integration of LiFE messages into all activities, the development of promotional materials, and their distribution through schools and online platforms are pivotal components of this multifaceted approach.
As part of Mission LiFE, BEE vigorously promotes energy efficiency through diverse programs, including Energy Clubs in schools, community workshops for Residential Welfare Associations, and Electric Vehicle (EV) awareness campaigns. The mission’s ambitious targets for 2022-28 aim to create 1 billion ‘Pro Planet People,’ transforming villages and urban local bodies into environmentally friendly entities.
