National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) in association with SamagraSiksha and State Council Of Educational Research& Training (SCERT), Andhra Pradeshconducted a 5-day Training of Trainers Programme on child Centric Disaster Risk Reduction in residential mode at Hotel Arka, Gollapudi, Vijayawada from 18th – 22nd April 2022. This programme is open toteachers working in schools across the State. Disasters threaten our lives and adversely affect the children who are a vulnerable group due to their low level of capacity. Keeping in view all these, NIDM has established a CCDRR centre to mainstream child risks through training. This training helps the trainers to build knowledge, skills, and perspectives toward Child Risk Reduction.
This training is organised by Dr I.Bal, Project Associate Mrs Sk.Nazia, Junior Research Officer, NIDM,CCDRR centre enlightened the participants with a wide range of topics such as the impact of disasters on children, home-school safety and mental health concerns for children.
85 participants from Krishna, NTR and Guntur districts have attended the training program. In this program participants were enlightened with Basic Concepts ofDisaster RiskManagement, Vulnerability Profileand DisasterManagementMechanism in India,Engaging Childrenin DRR,Commitments toChildren in Disastersand Emergencies,Disaster Impact onChildren and Lifecycle approach,protecting childrenand their rights fromChanging climate,Mental Health ofChildren inDisasters and ensuring Home toHome School Safety.
The valedictory is graced by Sri. Akhilesh Kumar Chaubey, Deputy Commandant, 10thbetalain, NDRF, Vijayawada. Smt. G.K.Padmaja, Lecturer, SCERT coordinated this program.
